wa2agent

Can ChatGPT read your WhatsApp chats?

Not the ChatGPT app, yet. Codex, OpenAI’s coding agent, can. wa2agent gives Codex read-only access to the WhatsApp chats you choose.

Why the ChatGPT app can’t connect yet.

ChatGPT connectors sign in with OAuth, or use no sign-in at all. wa2agent protects your vault with a private access key, which the ChatGPT app cannot send. So the ChatGPT app cannot add wa2agent today.

Use Codex instead.

Codex connects to MCP servers with an access key. We tested Codex end to end: it listed the shared chats and read a new message from them.

Follow the Codex setup guide. It takes three steps after you link WhatsApp.

Questions.

Can I paste WhatsApp messages into ChatGPT instead?

Yes, by hand. You can also export a chat from WhatsApp. Neither keeps up with new messages. wa2agent collects new messages from the chats you choose, for an agent that can connect.

Which chats can Codex see?

Only the chats you share. Pick individual groups and direct messages, or share all of them. Change your choices anytime.

Can Codex send WhatsApp messages through wa2agent?

No. wa2agent is read-only. Codex cannot send WhatsApp messages through it.

Can Codex see my older messages?

Collection starts after you link WhatsApp and save your chats. Earlier messages may be unavailable. Selected messages stay available for 30 days.

Who can access my messages?

Each user has a separate encrypted vault. Your stored messages are encrypted with a key only your agent holds. We can’t read them. New messages pass through the service before they are encrypted; the Privacy Policy has the details.

How do I stop Codex from seeing a chat?

Untick the chat in your vault and save. You can also pause collection, revoke your agent’s access, or delete your vault at any time.
