Let Claude read your WhatsApp chats.

wa2agent gives Claude Code read-only access to the WhatsApp chats you choose. Claude can then catch up on groups, find tasks and track plans for you.

Claude Code connects directly through MCP, a standard for connecting agents to tools. We tested this connection end to end.

How can Claude read my WhatsApp chats?

Your vault connects to WhatsApp as a linked device, like WhatsApp Web or Desktop. You choose which chats to share. Claude Code reads them with two read-only tools: list_chats and get_messages.

Message text is encrypted with a key only your agent holds. Claude opens it with your key, on your reading page or with a small script from your vault.

Set up Claude Code.

  1. Create your vault and link WhatsApp. Follow the setup steps, then link WhatsApp from your phone.
  2. Choose your chats. Share selected chats or all of them.
  3. Save your encryption key note. It is shown once. Claude needs it to read message text.
  4. Create an access key. Under Connect your agent, choose Create credential. Make it available to Claude Code as WA_VAULT_TOKEN.
  5. Add your vault to Claude Code. Put this in a private .mcp.json, with your vault’s address from Connect your agent.

Does it work in the Claude app?

We have not tested the Claude app (web, desktop or mobile). Its custom connectors accept an access key only on some accounts, as a beta. Claude also needs a browser or code to open the encrypted message text. For now, use Claude Code.

Which chats can Claude see?

Only the chats you share. Pick individual groups and direct messages, or share all of them. Change your choices anytime.

Can Claude send WhatsApp messages through wa2agent?

No. wa2agent is read-only. Claude cannot send WhatsApp messages through it.

Can Claude see my older messages?

Collection starts after you link WhatsApp and save your chats. Earlier messages may be unavailable. Selected messages stay available for 30 days.

Who can access my messages?

Each user has a separate encrypted vault. Your stored messages are encrypted with a key only your agent holds. We can’t read them. New messages pass through the service before they are encrypted; the Privacy Policy has the details.

How do I stop Claude from seeing a chat?

Untick the chat in your vault and save. You can also pause collection, revoke your agent’s access, or delete your vault at any time.
